Energy efficient plumbing 'attractive' to green consumers

Those looking to buy property with good energy efficiency may be keen to buy a home one which has plumbing energy efficiency built in, it has been suggested.

Danny Davis, senior technical engineer for the Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (IHPE), suggested that if a house was equipped in a way that ensured its water and heating systems were more efficient in the use of resources and heat this would make them popular.

He stated: "Energy conscious consumers would certainly be attracted to a house incorporating both energy and water conserving technologies over a similar house without such measures in place."

Already it is a legal requirement for newly installed boilers to have a Seasonal Efficiency of Domestic Boilers in the UK rating of A or B, which means making them ten per cent better at converting energy to heat using condensing technologies, the IHPE has stated.
